APPENDIX: A COUPLE QUICK HOW-TO's

"How do I keep this organized? I'm getting ten billion emails a day, what should I do?"

Create a filter with Google:
  1. Click Create a Filter. It's next to the button labeled "Search the Web" at the top of the page.
  2. In the form, just fill in: To: forum@ncfforum.com. or Subject: [FORUM]. Perform a Test Search to make sure it's working. Click Next Step »
  3. Check the box by Apply the Label, and from the dropdown menu choose "New label..." and choose what you want to call the label. I have mine labeled as [FORUM].
  4. If you want students list messages to skip your inbox, check the box labeled Skip the Inbox (Archive it). You will still receive students list emails, but they will not appear in your inbox. You will be able to find them by clicking on the label name you chose under "Labels" on the toolbar, or by clicking the All Mail link on the left. I don't recommend doing this cause you might miss important emails, but it's up to you.

To unsubscribe, because of a minor glitch in the way my host has the mailing list software set up, the best thing to do would be to email me (jyotirmoy.das at ncf.edu). I'll remove you from the forum as soon as I can. If you try to unsubscribe automaticalyl through email (how I was telling people to do it earlier) it causes a permissions error in the file and causes the forum to go down temporarily. It's a really easy fix but it's frustrating, so please jsut email me if you want to get out of the forum.
